Pomegranate Harvest Season Commences in Al Jabal Al Akhdar

Muscat: The harvesting of pomegranate trees began recently in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in A'Dakhiliyah Governorate. The crop's cultivation runs through the month of August every year.

According to Oman News Agency, statistics issued by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar show that the number of pomegranate trees stands at more than 27,000 and that the marketing value of the crop during the last season (2024-2025) stood at about RO 1.3 million.

Statistics also show that the percentage of healthy fruits in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar stood at more than 90 percent, while the average number of fruits per tree was about 60.

Pomegranates constitute the main economic crop for farmers in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar. The pomegranate harvest season also adds more diversity to recreational tourism and heritage tourism in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar.
