PM Chairs A Meeting Of The Ministerial Council For National Security

The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired this evening, Wednesday, a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security, in the presence of members of the Council. During which, the latest security developments, the most important challenges, and ways to confront them were discussed.

The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief, Major General Yahia Rasool, said in a statement: “The Council hosted the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Electricity and the Technical Committee for Electro-Nuclear Projects, where they discussed the investment of electro-electric energy in the generation of electric power at the national level, and the initiation of the construction of a limited nuclear reactor for peaceful purposes and energy production and clean electricity that contributes to reducing dependence on other sources of energy such as gas and oil, which will have a positive impact on the long-term stability of electric power.

In another axis, the second phase was evaluated and the third phase of the plan to transfer security responsibility from the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of Interior was initiated, after the success of the first phase, which included the governorates of (Muthanna, Diwaniyah, and Wasit), while the second phase included the governorates of (Najaf Al-Ashraf and Dhi Qar), and it is hoped that the third phase will include the governorates of (Salah al-Din, Anbar and Nineveh).

The Council also discussed a number of other topics on the agenda. / End
