Kuwait City: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, led the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation at the 45th GCC Summit. The summit was held today at Bayan Palace in the State of Kuwait.
According to Oman News Agency, Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, addressed the summit in his capacity as Chairman. He emphasized the Gulf Cooperation Council’s role as a symbol of unity and a testament to the strength of integration among member states. Al Sabah highlighted the importance of joint GCC action to address challenges stemming from rapid regional and international developments and to enhance cooperation to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
Al Sabah also reiterated the GCC’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for the end of Israeli occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line
with international laws and resolutions.
During the session, HH Sayyid Fahd conveyed greetings and best wishes from His Majesty the Sultan for a successful summit. He expressed appreciation for the hospitality of the Kuwaiti hosts and congratulated the Emir of the State of Kuwait on assuming the chairmanship of the current GCC session. Sayyid Fahd also acknowledged Qatar’s effective management of the previous session and stressed the importance of regular meetings to strengthen GCC solidarity and address shared challenges.
HH Sayyid Fahd reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to pursuing joint efforts in all areas of cooperation to ensure regional security and stability. He thanked the GCC Secretary-General and the team at the GCC General Secretariat for their preparations and expressed hope for achieving the aspirations of the GCC leadership.
GCC Secretary General Jassim Mohammed Al Badiwi called on the international community to take decisive action to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the West B
ank due to ongoing conflict, which has also escalated tensions in Lebanon.
The summit addressed strategic issues such as regional security, economic integration, development of the Gulf common market, and cooperation in technology and digital transition. Environmental and energy linkage projects among member states were also discussed, alongside political issues including the Palestinian situation, developments in Lebanon, Yemen’s circumstances, unresolved issues in Iraq, and relations with regional and international powers.
