Amman: Oman School Team is taking part in the Arab School Championship hosted by the Kingdom of Jordan from 17 to 28 August in Amman. More than 500 students from 8 Arab countries are participating in the championship.
According to Oman News Agency, the Omani team is competing in the boys’ futsal five-a-side football and the girls’ 3×3 basketball competitions. The tournament is organized by Jordan Ministry of Education and the School Sports Association (Oman), in collaboration with the Arab Federation for School Games.
The events are set to take place in Prince Hamzah Hall in Al Hussein Youth City. The five-a-side football matches will be held on the polo field, while the 3×3 basketball competitions will occur on the tennis court next to the Olympic swimming pool. The Paralympic Committee’s hall will host the badminton competitions.
Both Omani teams have completed their preparations for the championship, having attended camps that provided intensive training. The boys’ football team had two training camps in Muscat under the guidance of coach Salman Al Mudewli and his assistant Sultan Al Balushi. The girls’ basketball team underwent an internal camp supervised by coach Nidal Al Mughairy.
