New York:The Sultanate of Oman has reiterated its unwavering commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful and consensual means. This approach, rooted in values and principles that aim to secure security and stability while advancing economic development, was highlighted during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman's Foreign Minister, emphasized the importance of dialogue as a means of overcoming differences and building trust. He reaffirmed Oman's dedication to non-interference in the internal affairs of states, adherence to the United Nations Charter, and respect for state sovereignty as essential frameworks for international relations.
The Foreign Minister expressed concern over recent regional conflicts that threaten the security of the region, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for navigation and trade. He called for cooperation from all parties to ensure safe passage in accordance with international law.
Oman also renewed its solidarity with neighboring countries, including Gulf Cooperation Council members, to maintain security and protect territorial integrity. The Foreign Minister urged parties involved in disputes to engage in dialogue for sustainable political solutions, highlighting Yemen as a priority for a peaceful resolution that preserves its unity and stability.
Oman condemned ongoing Israeli actions affecting Arab states and reaffirmed support for the Palestinian pursuit of legitimate rights based on a two-state solution. The launch of the Muscat Plan to counter hate speech and incitement was noted, with Muscat set to host an event on International Day for Tolerance in November.
The Sultanate of Oman continues its commitment to sustainable development, empowering women's participation, and transitioning to a low-carbon economy, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. The Foreign Minister concluded by expressing gratitude to UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, reaffirming Oman's cooperation with the United Nations towards achieving global security, stability, and prosperity.
