Oman Honored at Rabat International Author Film Festival

Rabat: The Sultanate of Oman is taking part as the Guest of Honor in the 30th edition of the Rabat International Author Film Festival, highlighting the Omani cinematic movement and the nation’s commitment to cultural and creative industries. The festival, celebrating the artistic contributions of Oman, will run until 14 November.

According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony included a special tribute to Omani cinema, attended by Khalid Salim Bamkhalef, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Morocco. The ambassador remarked that this participation demonstrates the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties between Oman and Morocco, and underscores the ongoing commitment to enhance cultural and artistic collaboration.

The Oman Film Society is featuring a comprehensive program that encompasses film screenings, seminars, and workshops. Notably, Director Ahmed Al Hadhari is serving on the International Jury, and Oman is competing in the official competition with the film Al Majhool (The Unknown) directed by Mohammed Al Kindi.

During the festival, an Omani Cinematic Night is set to showcase six films representing new creative endeavors in Omani cinema. This event will be complemented by a seminar on Omani-Moroccan cinematic relations, a presentation of the “Make Your Film in Oman” initiative, and a scientific paper discussing the sociology between Oman and Morocco.

This engagement underscores the significant standing Omani cinema has achieved in international circles, reflecting the Sultanate’s ongoing efforts to promote the creative industries, empower local talents, and reinforce its cultural and artistic presence in both Arab and international cinema landscapes.
