Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the 52nd session of the Arab Labour Conference, currently being held in Cairo, Egypt, and continuing until 20 September 2026. The conference, organized by the Arab Labour Organization, is focusing on themes such as sustainable economic growth and equitable social development in Arab countries.

According to Oman News Agency, the conference addresses measures to promote sustainable economic growth and tackle climate change's impact on the work environment. It emphasizes the importance of startups in supporting entrepreneurship, generating employment opportunities, and boosting productivity.

The event aims to align skills with labour market needs and support the development of labour policies that keep pace with economic, technological, and social transitions. The conference further explores enhancing Arab cooperation in labour and employment fields, facilitating the exchange of expertise and successful experiences among Arab countries.

Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), stated that Oman's participation is a response to rapid developments in labour markets. He highlighted the need to develop labour policies and consolidate the private sector's role in supporting sustainable growth and providing quality employment opportunities.

Al Rawas noted the importance of focusing on skill development to align with labour market needs, digital transition, and the green economy. He emphasized the necessity of supporting startups and fostering innovation and growth. Collaboration and expertise exchange among Arab states are crucial for improving the work environment and adapting to developments, thereby achieving sustainable growth in line with Oman Vision 2040.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Ministry of Labour took part in the 65th meeting of the GCC Council of Labour Ministers.
