Oman Electricity & Energy Conference to Kick Off in October 2025

Muscat: The fourth edition of the Oman Electricity and Energy Conference 2025 will take place from 13-15 October 2025 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center. The event is organized by Nama Electricity Distribution Company.

According to Oman News Agency, the announcement came during a press conference held today in Muscat by Nama Electricity Distribution. The conference will focus on preparations, local and international participation, and key themes under the slogan ‘Mechanisms to Accelerate Energy Transition Efforts in the Sultanate of Oman.’

This year’s conference aims to explore opportunities to develop the energy mix, enhance grid efficiency, and leverage modern technologies such as artificial intelligence in the electricity sector. These efforts align with Oman’s ongoing national strategies to advance sustainable energy and achieve the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The event is expected to attract over 2,000 participants and more than 100 speakers from over 30 countries. It will feature a program of panel discussions, workshops, and an exhibition where institutions can showcase the latest solutions and technologies in electricity and energy.

Dr. Ahmed Zaid Al-Shaqsi, Director General of Strategy and Sustainability at Nama Electricity Distribution, stated that the conference aims to provide a scientific and professional platform for specialists, decision-makers, and experts from Oman and abroad. The event will discuss the future of Oman’s energy sector, sharing solutions and experiences in renewable energy, grid development, energy efficiency, and digital transformation.

Dr. Ahmed Said Al Maashari, Head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Sultan Qaboos University and Chairman of the Oman Society of Engineers, emphasized the conference’s role as a platform for discussing energy transition. He highlighted Oman’s commitment to energy transition, which opens promising avenues for discussion and development.

The conference will feature technical tracks covering regulations and policies, smart grid technologies, energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy integration, asset management, energy storage solutions, and distribution system optimization, focusing on accelerating Oman’s energy transition goals. Dr. Al Maashari explained that these sessions are designed to facilitate knowledge transfer between international experts and regional specialists.

The conference comes as Oman experiences rapid progress in renewable energy and sustainability, with ambitious targets including increasing renewable energy to 30% by 2030, investing in green hydrogen projects, and reducing carbon emissions.
