Oman and Uzbekistan Explore Enhanced Economic Cooperation

Muscat:Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, recently held discussions with Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during the latter's visit to Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance cooperation in economic, free, and industrial zones, as well as identifying new partnership opportunities in logistics, investment, and trade. Strengthening ties between the business communities of both countries was a key agenda item.

The discussions covered several sectors of mutual interest, including manufacturing, logistics, cold chains, and food and agricultural security. Opportunities for establishing investment projects and partnerships in these sectors were examined, along with the potential benefits of the special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities in Oman.

The meeting highlighted the competitive advantages offered by these zones, including an integrated investment environment that supports the growth and expansion of projects. Oman's strategic location, along with its network of ports, airports, and logistics capabilities, was recognized as a significant factor in facilitating access to regional and global markets, providing a solid base for companies aiming to expand.

Mechanisms for enhancing mutual cooperation on investment opportunities, exchanging expertise, and encouraging reciprocal visits by trade delegations, businessmen, and investors were also discussed. These initiatives aim to transform areas of mutual interest into partnerships and investment projects, thereby strengthening links between private sector institutions in both countries.

Both parties acknowledged the importance of continuous communication and coordination to identify economically viable investment opportunities and establish long-term partnerships that capitalize on the potential of both countries, contributing to the diversification of economic and investment cooperation.
