Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Trkiye focused on consolidating partnership, technical cooperation, and investment in the energy sector. The agreement was formalized by Eng. Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman, and Alparslan Bayraktar, the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
According to Oman News Agency, the MoU encompasses cooperation in various areas of the energy sector, including oil and gas, trade in liquefied natural gas (LNG), renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative fuels, green hydrogen, and carbon capture technologies. It also emphasizes the exchange of expertise and technology, collaboration on joint projects, and the organization of technical events to support sustainable development and the transition to clean energy.
The agreement further outlines cooperation in exchanging information and expertise, developing regulatory policies to enhance energy efficiency, and exploring opportunities in financing and innovative technologies for the production, storage, and transportation of green hydrogen. The MoU underscores Oman’s dedication to strengthening international partnerships in the energy sector and expanding cooperation with friendly nations to achieve shared interests, support national efforts toward carbon neutrality, and bolster Oman’s role as a regional energy hub.
