Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Thailand today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the energy sector. The MoU aims to expand opportunities for partnership and joint investment, facilitate the exchange of expertise and technologies, and support the development of the energy ecosystem.

According to Oman News Agency, the MoU was signed by Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Akanat Promphan, Minister of Energy in the Kingdom of Thailand. This agreement stems from the shared desire of the two countries to develop cooperation in the energy sector, consolidate their economic ties, and generate broader opportunities for collaboration among their institutions and companies.

As per the MoU, cooperation will focus on encouraging investment, enhancing bilateral consultation, exchanging policies, technologies, and information, and developing training and knowledge transfer. It also includes the operation of joint energy projects. The MoU establishes the "Oman-Thailand Energy Policy Dialogue," an institutional platform that will bring together private sector representatives from both countries to identify joint projects and devise a program for long-term cooperation and engagement.

The MoU also supports the exchange of training courses and expert visits between the two nations, alongside cooperation in research. These initiatives aim to contribute to workforce development and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the energy sector.
