Oman and Mauritania Explore Cooperation in Records and Archives

Muscat: Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al Dhoyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), today received Mokhtar El Hosseinou Lam, Minister in charge of the General Secretariat of the Government in Mauritania, and his accompanying delegation. The Mauritanian delegation toured the National Records and Archives Authority as part of its official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, Al Dhoyani and El Hosseinou Lam discussed various aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of records, archives, and historical studies. The discussions aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The two sides examined ways to enhance coordination in organizing conferences, scholarly seminars, and exhibitions. This aspect of cooperation is expected to further strengthen the ties between the two nations in the academic and cultural spheres.

During their visit, the Mauritanian delegation gained insights into the Sultanate of Oman’s experience in the conservation and management of electronic documents, records, and archives. They were provided with a visual presentation about the NRAA, detailing its main objectives, specializations, and missions undertaken so far.

The delegation also took note of the historical treasures and components of cultural heritage that are abundant in the Sultanate of Oman, emphasizing the potential for cultural and historical collaboration between Oman and Mauritania.
