Oman and France Initiate Strategic Dialogue to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Paris: The Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic began the first round of strategic dialogue in Paris today. The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while the French delegation was headed by Martins Briens, Secretary-General of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

According to Oman News Agency, the session emphasized the depth of the strategic partnership between the two nations and explored opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, energy, security, culture, education, and training. The discussions included an exchange of views on regional and international issues, with a particular focus on the current crisis in the Gulf region. Both sides highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as the key to overcoming challenges and achieving sustainable solutions, urging concerned parties to resume negotiations.

During the session, the Governments of Oman and France signed an agreement regarding the issuance of work permits for spouses of official employees. This agreement was signed by Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy and Martins Briens. The strategic dialogue session was attended by Munthir Mahfoudh Al Manthiri, Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Mohammed Al Araimi, Ambassador of Oman to France, Nabil Hajlaoui, Ambassador of France to Oman, and several other officials from both countries.
