Muscat: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, today received Nesredin Mohammed Saleh, Minister of Trade and Industry of Eritrea, who is on a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. Al Yousef and Saleh discussed ways to develop economic relations between Oman and Eritrea.
According to Oman News Agency, the two ministers reviewed existing cooperation in the commercial, industrial, and investment sectors. They explored opportunities for partnerships in sectors such as mining, converting industries, tourism, food security, and logistic services. The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation between private sector establishments in both countries.
Furthermore, the officials talked about collaboration in energy, minerals, livestock, and fisheries. They also considered opening direct channels for facilitating trade and imports. The potential for organizing an Omani-Eritrean businessmen’s forum to explore joint investments in productive sectors was also on the agenda.
Al Yousef highlighted that the visit marks a step forward in consolidating economic relations and exploring new cooperation areas to serve common interests as per Oman Vision 2040. As part of efforts to diversify markets and attract quality investments, the Ministry is implementing measures to support economic partnerships with African nations.
During his visit, the Eritrean Minister will examine Oman’s approach to improving its business environment, developing industrial investments, and expanding logistic and export services.
