Tokyo: The Japanese Nikkei index fell 0.4 percent today to close at 52,0774.64 points, extending a five-day losing streak, its longest in a year.
According to Oman News Agency, the broader Topix index also fell 1 percent to 3,589.70. Japanese financial stocks declined, with the Topix sub-index for the banking sector down 3.2 percent, making it the biggest losing sector among the 33 sectors.
