Muscat Municipality to Upgrade Al Salam Street in A’Seeb

Muscat:Muscat Municipality has entered into an agreement with AZ Engineers and Partners to carry out the Al Salam Street Upgrade Project. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance the road and infrastructure system in the Muscat Governorate, aiming to provide sustainable traffic solutions to alleviate congestion at key locations and expand road capacity to accommodate urban growth and increased traffic.

According to Oman News Agency, the project will focus on two critical locations along Al Salam Street, known for high traffic density. The development of intersections at these sites is expected to reduce congestion, improve traffic flow efficiency, and enhance safety.

At the first site, the Industrial Roundabout intersection at the junction of Al Salam Street and Al E'mar Street, a tunnel will be constructed to enable continuous traffic flow in both directions, eliminating the need for stops. This tunnel will consist of two lanes in each direction, with provisions for a future third lane, allowing for potential capacity increases.

Additionally, this development will include the construction of two-lane overpasses, necessary entry and exit points, and upgrades to connecting roads, which will help organize vehicle movement and ease transit between surrounding roads.

At the second location, the traffic light intersection between Al Salam Street and Al Khair Street will also feature a tunnel with two lanes in each direction and space for a future third lane. This development includes two-lane overpasses and free-flow turning lanes to further enhance traffic flow.
