Muscat Governorate Council Reviews Health Services and Development Initiatives

Muscat:His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, chaired the Muscat Governorate Municipal Council meeting, focusing on health services and sustainable development projects.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting included a presentation by the Directorate General of Health Services for Muscat Governorate. The presentation covered health services and programs in the governorate, performance indicators, completed projects, and ongoing development plans. Additionally, it emphasized efforts to promote public health, community services, and the integration of various authorities to enhance the health system.

The presentation highlighted initiatives aimed at enhancing prevention and community health, improving quality of life, and reducing health risk factors. The Council also ratified the minutes of its previous meeting, commended the Ministry of Social Development's plan for 2026, and acknowledged efforts to enhance social development programs and initiatives aligned with Oman Vision 2040.

The Council reviewed recommendations from various committees on service-related, regulatory, and development topics. The Legal Affairs Committee focused on regulations for housing workers at construction sites in residential areas, addressing potential social and health implications. The Health and Environmental Affairs Committee examined waste management improvements at Muscat Municipality, aiming to elevate public cleanliness and reduce environmental impacts.

The Governorate Development and Growth Committee proposed diversifying facilities in the Wilayat of Al Amerat, including a project for motorcycle enthusiasts. The Council also reviewed proposals for rebuilding Quriyat Hospital to accommodate urban expansion and population growth, as well as protecting sites of natural value to align with community needs and development priorities.
