Al bustan: Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, met at Al Bustan Palace Hotel today with Omer Bolat, Minister of Trade and Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Minister of Industry and Technology.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the current state visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Trkiye to the Sultanate of Oman. The two sides discussed ways to boost trade exchange between the two countries, emphasized the importance of activating joint economic channels, and advancing negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between the GCC states and the Republic of Trkiye. This aims to eliminate non-tariff barriers and facilitate the movement of goods, services, and investments.
The meeting also explored opportunities for industrial cooperation in the fields of mining, renewable energy, and electric vehicle manufacturing, alongside the possibility of establishing Turkish factories in the economic zones of the Sultanate of Oman. This would leverage the logistical advantages and investment incentives provided by Oman to local and international investors.
Discussions also addressed potential cooperation in pharmaceutical and technological industries, enhancing partnerships in research and development, and vocational training. Additionally, the meeting reviewed a proposal to establish a direct maritime shipping route between the ports of the two countries to facilitate trade and re-export activities.
The two sides emphasized the importance of joint coordination between relevant authorities in both countries, increasing the organization of joint trade and investment forums, and exchanging expertise across various fields. These efforts aim to boost economic relations and support sustainable development in both nations.
The meeting was attended by Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation and Chairman of Oman Centre for Strategic Partnerships and Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, along with several officials from both sides.
