Tehran: Around 95 percent of Iran's airport infrastructure remains intact and operational despite recent regional security developments, the chief of the Iranian Airlines Association said today.

According to Oman News Agency, Maqsoud Asadi Samani told reporters that runways, control towers, and air navigation systems have not suffered major damage, allowing for a gradual resumption of flight operations.

Damage has been largely concentrated on the air fleet, with about 20 civilian aircraft severely affected, while roughly 130 aircraft remain in service. Assessment and maintenance work is ongoing to return damaged planes to operational status, he added.

Authorities have begun taking steps to restart several major airports, implementing safety and security procedures and coordinating with airlines to gradually resume domestic and international flights, as part of efforts to reassure travellers and ensure continuity of air services.
