Nizwa: The inaugural edition of the International Conference on Creative Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICCEET 2026) commenced today at the University of Nizwa. Organized by the College of Engineering and Architecture under the theme "Exploring Future Horizons: Engineering a Greener World," the conference will continue for three days.
According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Eng. Badr bin Salim Al Maamari, Chairman of the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority. The inauguration featured a panel discussion titled "Building Oman's Green Industrial Future," which explored mechanisms for translating national strategies into tangible reality through the localization of value chains in the green hydrogen sector and the development of educational curricula to align with the requirements of a low-carbon economy.
The chief guest also inaugurated the accompanying exhibition, which showcases research models and applied projects in the fields of renewable energy, waste management, and smart cities, with broad participation from researchers and government and private sector institutions.
The conference brings together over 300 researchers and experts from 20 countries, representing 33 universities and research institutions. Through its scientific themes, the conference addresses several key tracks, most notably carbon neutrality systems, environmental innovation, climate-resilient infrastructure, and artificial intelligence in electrical engineering.
It is worth noting that the conference aims to promote interdisciplinary research, support innovation in sustainable engineering, and activate partnerships between academic institutions and the industrial sector, in a manner that serves sustainable development priorities in the Sultanate of Oman.
