Muscat:Revenues for hotels rated 3 to 5 stars in Oman reached approximately RO 156.54 million by the end of August 2026, marking an 11 percent decrease from RO 175.84 million during the same period in 2025. The average hotel occupancy rate stood at 46.5 percent, down from 52.9 percent in the previous year.

According to Oman News Agency, the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reported that the total number of guests in these hotels fell by 10.7 percent, reaching 1,352,830 guests compared to 1,515,472 in 2025.

There was a 2.7 percent increase in Omani guests, totaling 583,702 by August 2026, up from 568,370 the previous year, accounting for approximately 43.1 percent of all guests in rated hotels. Asian guests also increased by 3 percent, reaching 220,955 compared to 214,473 in 2025.

In contrast, the number of European guests decreased by 29.8 percent to 273,654, and guests from GCC countries dropped by 19 percent to 119,000. Other Arab nationalities saw a 9 percent decrease to 60,223 guests, while American guests fell by 25.6 percent to 36,756.

The most significant decline was among Oceanian guests, down 57.7 percent to 12,475. African guests also saw a decrease of 2.1 percent to 9,698.

On a monthly basis, August 2026 showed improvement over July, with the number of guests increasing by 22.1 percent to 198,394. Hotel revenues in August rose to RO 18.24 million, up 29.1 percent from July's RO 14.13 million. Occupancy rates also improved from 42.6 percent in July to 51.4 percent in August.
