Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today conducted telephone calls with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic, and Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK).
According to Oman News Agency, the telephonic discussions addressed the dangerous escalation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel, including the increasing frequency of attacks and their devastating consequences on civilian infrastructure and populations. Concerns were raised about the potential repercussions threatening the security and stability of the entire region.
The recent U.S. military strikes on sites within the Islamic Republic of Iran were also discussed, with warnings that such actions risk further tension and escalation.
During these calls, emphasis was placed on the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts to halt the cycle of escalation and spare the region additional destruction and humanitarian suffering. Particular attention was given to potential environmental hazards and radiological consequences, with the shared objective of safeguarding civilian lives and preserving regional security and stability.
