Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik chaired the Council of Ministers meeting at Al Barakah Palace today, marking a significant step in the Sultanate's ongoing efforts to bolster its economic, social, and diplomatic initiatives.

The meeting also addressed the empowerment of women in governance. His Majesty announced the addition of an extra seat for women in each governorate in the Shura Council, raising the total to eleven. His Majesty commended government institutions for their improved performance, as revealed by the 2025 performance evaluation results. He urged these improvements to translate into better citizen satisfaction, a conducive business environment, and progress in Oman Vision 2040 indicators.
With the rise of digital media among children, His Majesty directed authorities to regulate children's use of these platforms, drawing on global best practices to ensure safe and beneficial engagement.
Cybersecurity was highlighted as a priority, with a call for government entities to prioritize cybersecurity projects and address challenges in coordination with relevant authorities. The establishment of the Government Assets Authority was also approved to manage and optimize state assets, enhancing governance and supporting economic development.
Employment initiatives were reviewed, with the Council praising efforts from both government and private sectors to expand job opportunities for citizens. His Majesty highlighted the importance of further elevating employment targets.
The Council affirmed Oman's commitment to dialogue and diplomacy in international relations, welcoming the recent understanding between the United States and Iran. His Majesty praised regional and international efforts, particularly from the Gulf Cooperation Council and Pakistan, in maintaining regional security.

In response to global economic challenges, His Majesty emphasized continued efforts to secure supply chains and directed support measures for small and medium enterprises affected by these challenges.
