Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued two Royal decrees, as announced today, marking significant diplomatic and scientific advancements for the Sultanate of Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, the first decree, Royal Decree No. (84/2026), appoints Sayyid Yarub bin Qahtan bin Nasser Al Busaidi, the existing Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan. This appointment is set to enhance Oman's diplomatic outreach. The decree mandates its publication in the Official Gazette and takes effect immediately.

The second decree, Royal Decree No. (85/2026), concerns the ratification of an International Cooperation Agreement. This agreement, signed in Geneva on 19 May 2026, involves the Ministry of Education in Oman and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). It aims at fostering scientific and technical cooperation in high-energy physics. The decree stipulates that the agreement's ratification follows the attached version, with immediate publication and enforcement.
