Madrid: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S¡nchez attended a signing ceremony at the Moncloa Palace in Madrid, marking the conclusion of an agreement and six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Oman and Spain.
According to Oman News Agency, the state visit by His Majesty Sultan to Spain provided the opportunity for the two nations to strengthen bilateral relations through official agreements. The primary agreement focuses on the mutual visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Spain.
The MoUs, signed at the ceremony, span several sectors, including culture and sports, investment promotion, cooperation in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and food security, water resources management and protection, clean energy, and transport and infrastructure development.
Representing the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, the signatories were Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals. On behalf of the Government of Spain, the documents were signed by Jos© Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; Carlos Cuerpo, Minister of Economy, Trade and Business; and Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
