HM The Sultan and Italian PM Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Development


Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, at Al Barakah Palace today for a significant diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Oman and Italy.



According to Oman News Agency, the meeting commenced with His Majesty extending a warm welcome to the Italian Prime Minister and her official delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay in Oman. Prime Minister Meloni expressed her gratitude for the Sultan’s hospitality and conveyed greetings from President Sergio Mattarella of Italy. The President sent his best wishes for the Sultan’s health and well-being, as well as success in achieving further progress and prosperity in Oman.



His Majesty reciprocated by asking the Prime Minister to convey his greetings and best wishes to President Mattarella. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and partnership between Oman and Italy across various sectors to serve their mutual interests.



The meeting progressed to a session of talks where His Majesty and Prime Minister Meloni reviewed existing cooperation and explored avenues for development. They discussed investment opportunities, particularly in industries such as energy, modern technologies, food security, and tourism, along with cultural and educational exchanges. Additionally, they shared perspectives on regional and international developments.



The session saw participation from key Omani officials, including Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office, and Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, among others. The Italian delegation included Pierluigi D’Elia, Ambassador to Oman, and other high-ranking officials from the Italian government.
