Foreign Ministry: An Emergency Meeting Of The FMs Of The Member States Of The Organization Of Islamic Cooperation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Saturday, the holding of an emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding insulting the Holy Quran.

The ministry said in a statement, “The systematic path that the ministry adheres to during the scheduled meeting aims at actions that offend the Holy Quran and the sanctities of Muslims, and sets collective mechanisms to confront the phenomenon of Islamophobia, provided that this is in the context of national and international decisions.”

It pointed out that “provocative and heinous practices against Islamic sanctities are fueled by laws that permit this, under the pretext of freedom of expression and the right to demonstrate, and this revives hatred and extremism, threatens social peace and security, and brings human societies back to the memory of violence.”

The ministry called on the international community to be responsible and equal in dealing with its moral and civilized obligations, as stipulated in international resolutions, by criminalizing racism and anti-Semitism and its followers in the world.

The Ministry renewed its call to all parties to be active and without discrimination towards social peace and security around the world, and it is a call to renounce extremism and besiege “toxic” ideas and practices that call for them.
