Muscat: Nama Electricity Distribution Company is actively implementing a series of development projects in A'Dakhiliyah Governorate, valued at RO 20,497,000. These projects aim to enhance the stability of the electrical grid, increase its reserve capacity and operational flexibility, improve efficiency, reduce losses, and ensure compliance with grid safety standards throughout the governorate's various wilayats.
According to Oman News Agency, Eng. Yousuf Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Head of Technical Affairs at Nama Electricity Distribution Company, stated that these projects are part of the company's development plans designed to boost the efficiency of the electrical grid and increase its carrying capacity. This initiative is crucial to accommodate the urban expansion and population growth in the governorate's wilayats, thereby improving grid stability and supply quality for subscribers across multiple sectors.
Al Mahrouqi elaborated that the projects encompass the expansion and reinforcement of the electrical grid, connection and extension projects for residential, industrial, and commercial facilities, as well as technical projects aimed at grid automation. These initiatives also focus on developing smart management systems to integrate renewable energy sources and provide innovative digital solutions for managing the distribution system.
He emphasized the company's commitment to executing these projects according to approved timelines while adhering to quality and operational safety standards. This approach is intended to enhance grid reliability and increase its capacity to meet the developmental demands and rapid growth in the governorate.
Current projects include the construction of the Bisiya Substation in the Wilayat of Bahla with a capacity of 2x6 MVA, costing RO 3,267,537. Other initiatives include relocating 33 kV feeders at the Adam Main Primary Substation at a cost of RO 27,292, and testing and commissioning power and control cables for the 33/11 kV transformer at the same substation at a cost of RO 24,240.
Additional projects involve constructing 33 kV feeders in the industrial area in the Wilayat of Samail at a cost of RO 82,636, and building the Shafe' Primary Substation with a capacity of 2x20 MVA at Shafe' Camp in the Wilayat of Izki for RO 2,100,000.
Further developments include constructing the Nizwa City 2 Primary Substation with a capacity of 3x20 MVA in the Wilayat of Nizwa for RO 2,333,333 and the Al Mua'aimir Primary Substation with the same capacity for RO 2,281,956.
Moreover, an upgrade project for Al Bashaer Substation in the Wilayat of Adam is in progress, increasing its capacity from 2x6 MVA to 3x6 MVA, including 33 and 11 kV feeders, at a cost of RO 1,262,788.
Projects also include constructing additional 33 kV feeders from the Birkat Al Mouz Main Substation in the Wilayat of Nizwa for RO 619,656, and expanding the 33 kV switchgear room at the Adam Main Substation. Additionally, the construction of the Birkat Al Mouz Main Substation and Samail Industrial Main Substation has a combined cost of RO 5,190,082.
