Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, along with Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has inaugurated a commemorative postage stamp. This stamp serves as a symbol of the cultural and historical ties between Oman and Iran and reflects their commitment to good neighbourliness, cooperation, and civilizational exchange.
According to Oman News Agency, the ceremony was held at Al Alam Palace in Muscat during the official visit of President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran to Oman. Sayyid Nasr bin Badr Al Busaidi, Postmaster at Oman Post, mentioned that the stamp embodies the deep connections between the two nations, highlighting their dedication to cultural diplomacy and fostering neighbourly relations.
The stamp’s design features a blend of architectural and cultural symbols from both countries. At its center is the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat, framed by date palms, representing Oman’s resilience and agricultural heritage. On the other side, the Jameh Mosque of Bastak in Iran is depicted, surrounded by cypress trees, symbolizing continuity and civilizational endurance.
A handwoven Persian carpet, inspired by the one in the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, lies at the heart of the design. Crafted in Iran’s Khorasan province, it signifies the artisanal collaboration between Oman and Iran. This joint artistic effort reaffirms the countries’ commitment to enhancing postal service cooperation and exploring broader partnerships for mutual benefits.
