Colombia Bombing Death Toll Rises to 20, Dozens More Wounded

Colombia: The number of victims from explosions in southwestern Colombia has risen to at least 20 dead and 36 injured, local authorities said. Cauca Governor Octavio Guzm¡n posted on X that the attack killed 20 civilians and wounded 36 others. Forensic authorities had earlier reported 19 bodies, with search efforts continuing for the missing.

According to Oman News Agency, officials blamed dissidents of the disbanded Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) for the attack in the Cauca region, an area known for its volatile security situation. The explosion struck the Pan-American Highway, destroying buses and trucks and overturning several vehicles because of the blast's intensity.

President Gustavo Petro called the perpetrators 'terrorists, fascists and drug traffickers' and vowed to take all necessary action to hunt them down. The attack followed a bombing at a military base in Cali, Colombia's third-largest city, on Friday that injured two people, and a subsequent wave of attacks in the Valle del Cauca and Cauca regions.
