RAMALLAH: Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh, said that the statements made by US President Joe Biden must 'transform into actions,' demanding him to call for an immediate ceasefire. "US President Biden's statements yesterday must transform into actions, starting with calling for an immediate ceasefire and putting forward a comprehensive political plan based on international legitimacy and international law, ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state," al-Sheikh said on a post he made he made on X, formerly known as Twitter. Biden said on Tuesday that Israel is losing support over its "indiscriminate" bombing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should change. "Israel's security can rest on the United States, but right now it has more than the United States. It has the European Union, it has Europe, it has most of the world ... But they're starting to lose that support by indiscriminate bombing that takes place," The US President said to donors during a fundraiser Tuesday. The pair engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding the latest developments on both local and regional fronts. The conversation also delved into the ongoing efforts towards achieving the presidential deadlines, in addition to addressing various other matters falling under the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation. Hamieh emphasized that 'dialogue among the Lebanese is the gateway to achieving the presidential deadlines, which we consider a fundamental factor in maintaining the country's political stability.' The Public Works Minister also highlighted that the current circumstances 'cannot obstruct continuous work across all sectors, particularly those areas under the ministry's purview.' In this context, Hamieh stressed that enhancing the growth of his ministry's affiliated facilities is among the facilitating factors to overcome these circumstances, es pecially the economic ones.
