Baghdad – The Pentagon press office reported that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustam Omerov and promised to seek additional funds from Congress to continue military aid.
Yesterday, Friday, the US Administration sent to Congress an additional budget request that includes more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.
The press office added: “Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke by phone today with the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, during which the continued American support for Ukraine was emphasized. Secretary Austin reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to asking Congress for the resources that Ukraine needs.”
It is noteworthy that Russia sent a memorandum to NATO countries regarding the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that any shipment containing weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for the Russian army./End
