Aoun Offers Sincere Condolences to Al-Hajjar, Abdallah Over Martyr Elias Tawq: No Leniency Toward Those Who Violate Security, Wanted by Justice

Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, contacted this afternoon Interior and Municipalities Minister, Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Hajjar, and the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdallah, offering his deepest condolences over the martyrdom of Lieutenant Elias Tawq, who lost his life at dawn today during a raid by a SWAT force affiliated with the Judicial Police Unit on the home of a wanted individual in Tripoli.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun commended the security work carried out by the martyr and the force members, three of whom were also injured, including a sergeant and two officers. He wished mercy upon the martyr, patience and solace to his family, and a speedy recovery to the wounded.

The President hailed the ongoing efforts of the Internal Security Forces across its various units, in working to maintain security in the country, curbing all forms of crime, combating smuggling operations and anything that threatens citizens’ safety.

Aoun emphasized that “there will be no leniency toward those who disrupt security and are wanted by the judiciary.”
