Ankara admits that it has lost one of its drones in northern Syria

The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that the operations of its army forces in combating terrorism were not affected by the loss of one of its drones in northern Syria.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated in a statement today, Friday, regarding its ongoing operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party organization in northern Iraq and Syria that the military operations came within the framework of the right of legitimate self-defense, confirming the destruction of many terrorist targets in the areas of Tal Rifaat, Al-Jazeera, and Derik in northern Syria yesterday, Thursday.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in its statement: “During those operations, a drone was lost due to various technical evaluations during the operation of the disengagement mechanism with third parties.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed that the necessary measures were being taken to ensure that the disengagement mechanism with the parties concerned operates more effectively.

It said: “The fall of the drone did not affect the progress of carrying out the ongoing operations and striking the specified targets in any way.”

It stressed the Turkish army’s determination to continue systematically destroying the sources of funding and capabilities of the terrorist organization in Syria, similar to what the Turkish army is doing in Iraq against the organization’s strongholds.

Yesterday, the Pentagon announced that an American F-16 fighter jet shot down a Turkish drone flying near American forces in Syria.
