The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, called on the Islamic peoples to take a serious and real stand in order to support Islam.

Al-Sadr said in a press conference from Al-Hanana, “I call on Saudi Arabia and Iran to take a position on the incident of burning the Qur’an, and I call on the countries of the world to enact a law criminalizing the burning of the Qur’an and making it a terrorist crime.”

He added, “The burning of the Qur’an must be a crime, indicating that the burning of the Qur’an by a Christian does not mean that he represents Christians.

Al-Sadr confirmed that he wanted not to escalate because the “stupid” aimed to burn my personal image. I do not seek that the escalation be personal from me, but there will be an escalation.
