Muscat: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck Haixi today in Qinghai Province, northwest China.
According to Oman News Agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported that the epicenter was located at 37.81 degrees north latitude and 95.63 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage. China is frequently struck by earthquakes and tremors, particularly in the mountainous western regions. On June 16, one person was killed and four others were injured in a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Haixi.
