Salalah: A two-day symposium titled 'Water Resources Sustainability: Water and Climate Change' began in the Wilayat of Salalah today. The event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, in collaboration with Dhofar Municipality and Nama Dhofar Services company, and in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Oman Water Society, and Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.

According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony was presided over by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The symposium aims to tackle the challenges related to water resources sustainability amid ongoing climate change. It also focuses on enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in water management and adaptation to climate change impacts.

The symposium's main paper highlights the role of the 'Arab Network for the Management of Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions (Arab G-WADI)' in sustainable water resources management and adaptation planning.

The event delves into four primary themes: the sustainability of water resources in light of climate change, water resources management and strategies to address climate risks, modern technologies to ensure water sustainability, and policies and partnerships to support water sustainability.
