Salalah: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) today organized a forum on cybersecurity in Salalah. The forum focused on enhancing public awareness about cybersecurity and developing digital protection skills.
According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Lamya Said Al Shanfari, Head of Information Technology at UTAS in Salalah, emphasized the significance of technology in the digital world as a key driver of business growth. She highlighted the global reliance on information flow, leading to the rise of various specializations in information technologies. Dr. Al Shanfari pointed out that cybersecurity is intricately linked to data exchange, storing, and processing systems, drawing interest from individuals, organizations, and governments.
The forum’s agenda included workshops and lectures addressing various facets of cybersecurity. Experts specializing in cybersecurity development and extortion detection delivered the lectures. The programme featured a workshop titled “Digital Home Shield,” a drama named “Point Zero,” and an exhibition presenting student projects on cybersecurity systems and data protection.
