Tunisia Assumes Leadership of League of Arab States at Ministerial Level

Tunis: Tunisia has assumed the Chairmanship of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Ministerial Level, with Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, leading the 166th Session. The Minister addressed the session, highlighting Tunisia's commitment to strengthening Arab solidarity and advancing joint Arab action.

According to African Press Organization, Minister Nafti emphasized the importance of security and stability in the region, linking it to the rights of the Palestinian people. He underscored Tunisia's unwavering support for Palestine and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. The Minister also condemned attacks on Syrian and Lebanese territories and expressed solidarity with these countries, as well as with Sudan, Yemen, and Libya.

Furthermore, the Minister reaffirmed Tunisia's support for several Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, among others, against violations of their sovereignty. He called for enhanced Arab coordination to address security challenges and emphasized Tunisia's role in implementing Arab strategies and projects, particularly in development, social, and economic fields.

The Minister highlighted Tunisia's achievements, such as hosting the Arab High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the Second World Summit for Social Development and receiving the Arab Government Excellence Award for education. He also noted Tunisia's selection as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2027, which he described as an opportunity to boost tourism and cultural exchanges.

In conclusion, Minister Nafti reiterated Tunisia's commitment to enhancing mechanisms for joint Arab action and cooperation with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. Arab delegations expressed their appreciation for Tunisia's role and confidence in its leadership to advance dialogue and unity among Arab states.
