Transport Ministry Survey Measures Digital Economy’s Contribution to GDP

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is conducting a fieldwork survey to measure the contribution of the digital economy to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023.

According to Oman News Agency, the survey stems from efforts to meet the objectives of the National Digital Economy Programme. The project seeks to provide accurate data to enable decision makers and policy makers to draw out a future roadmap for digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman.

The survey monitors the progress made in achieving the goals of the National Digital Economy Programme aimed at realizing a 10-percent rise in the digital economy’s contribution to the GDP by 2040.

The survey would also help provide a reliable database for conducting economic studies and research, make regional and international comparisons of the contribution of the digital economy to the national economy and provide researchers with a broad range of statistics to enhance their studies in this field.
