Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers (SQI-TANNS) today welcomed 35 students from 17 nationalities at its campus in the Wilayat of Manah, A'Dakhiliyah Governorate, as part of a seven-week academic and cultural programme.

According to Oman News Agency, the 62nd cohort includes learners from the Oman-Britain Friendship Society, as well as students from Uzbekistan, the United States, Iran, Pakistan, Brunei Darussalam, Tanzania, Trkiye, the Comoros, Romania, South Korea, France, Ghana, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, and Japan. This diverse group reflects the growing global interest in learning Arabic and exploring Omani culture.

The programme aims to develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through an interactive environment that combines theoretical study with practical application, enhancing their proficiency in Arabic across various communicative contexts.

The course also features cultural activities and field visits, allowing students to explore Oman's historical, civilisational, and tourist attractions, and to experience authentic Omani customs and traditions. This approach fosters cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

The course is part of the institute's ongoing efforts to promote Arabic globally and strengthen Oman's position as a leading destination for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. It aims to build bridges of cultural and civilisational communication through integrated programmes that combine language learning with cultural immersion.
