Muscat:A symposium titled 'Readings on currencies and coins in Omani Civilization' was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth at the lecture hall of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in the Wilayat of Bausher, Governorate of Muscat.
According to Oman News Agency, the event was held under the patronage of Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Saqri, Member of the State Council. It featured presentations of specialized working papers detailing the monetary history of Oman, from the early Islamic era to the end of the 6th century AH.
The symposium addressed several aspects of monetary history, including the evolution from metal coins to paper currencies, the discovery of coin hoards in Oman, and the role of these currencies as political and economic symbols that highlight Oman's pivotal role in global trade.
Additionally, the event included a video presentation titled 'Our Culture: The source of our identity', alongside an exhibition tracing the history of Omani currencies and coins.
