Jakarta: A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck a region of Indonesia today, followed by powerful aftershocks that shook the area. Preliminary reports said the tremors lasted more than a minute. No casualties or material damage have been reported so far. According to Oman News Agency, Indonesia lies in a seismically active zone and experiences frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity due to its position on multiple tectonic fault lines.
