Muscat: The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in South Al Batinah Governorate has successfully concluded the 2025-2026 livestock vaccination programme, achieving coverage of 332,674 heads, which is 167% of the initially targeted number.

According to Oman News Agency, the programme included the vaccination of 228,992 goats, 89,137 sheep, 14,450 cattle, and 95 camels. The primary objective of the vaccination effort was to curb the spread of several livestock diseases such as peste des petits ruminants, sheep pox, foot-and-mouth disease, enterotoxemia, lumpy skin disease, and rabies.

Additionally, the initiative encompassed preventive veterinary services aimed at supporting livestock owners across the governorate. This comprehensive approach ensures the health and productivity of livestock, which are crucial to the local economy and food security.
