SalamAir Celebrates Inauguration of First Flight to Vienna

Salamair: SalamAir celebrated today the inauguration of its direct flights between Muscat and Vienna in the Republic of Austria, during an event held at Muscat International Airport, ahead of the launch of its first flights to the Austrian capital tomorrow, Wednesday.

According to Oman News Agency, the inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of Christoph Ceska, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Sultanate of Oman. This new route represents a significant milestone in the carrier's expansion across Europe, establishing the first direct air link between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Austria. It also underscores the importance of the new destination in enhancing air connectivity between the two countries and supporting the prospects of economic and tourism cooperation, thereby contributing to expanding travel options and opening new opportunities for trade and tourism exchange.

SalamAir will operate this route with three weekly flights, providing passengers with a direct and convenient travel option between Muscat and Vienna. This contributes to expanding the carrier's network in Europe and reinforcing Muscat's position as a strategic gateway connecting Europe with the Gulf region, Asia, and East Africa.

Nasser Ahmed Al Sharji, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports, stated: "We are pleased to witness SalamAir's inauguration of its new direct route to Vienna, which represents an important addition to the growing network of international destinations through Muscat International Airport. This new route enhances the airport's air connectivity with Europe, reflecting the continuous cooperation between Oman Airports and our airline partners to open direct routes to key international markets."

He added: "At Oman Airports, we maintain our commitment to supporting the launch of new routes and destinations, providing more travel options for passengers, and enhancing the Sultanate of Oman's presence on the global air connectivity map. The launch of this service also reflects our joint efforts to open new markets, improve the passenger experience, and enhance air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and international markets in a manner that supports tourism and economic growth targets."

The aircraft will receive an official reception upon its arrival at Vienna Airport, in the presence of Yousuf Ahmed Al Jabri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Austria, and Julian J¤ger, Joint Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Vienna International Airport, marking the commencement of the first direct air service between the two capitals.
