Muscat: Russian space company Bureau 1440 has launched the second batch of upgraded Rassvet satellites to provide communications and internet services to Earth, the company announced. The second batch of second-generation Rassvet satellites was successfully placed into orbit, and the company will continue expanding its low Earth orbit constellation, it said in a statement.

According to Oman News Agency, the container carrying the satellites separated from the carrier rocket after reaching the reference orbit and deployed the satellites into space. The company's ground control centre has taken over control, with the satellites expected to move to operational missions after completion of testing and commissioning.

The first 16 Rassvet satellites were launched in March, equipped with a 5G-based communications system to deliver internet services to Earth.
