According to Oman News Agency, Parry dominated the WTA 500-level event from the outset, racing to a 4-1 lead in the opening set before the 30-year-old Mertens mounted a strong comeback to level the score. Parry then claimed the subsequent game and broke Mertens' serve to close out the first set, 6-4. Mertens, however, seized control of the second set, winning six consecutive games and breaking her opponent's serve three times. Parry called for a medical timeout while trailing 5-0 in the second set but returned to continue the match. The Frenchwoman regained her momentum in the decisive set, surging to a 5-1 lead before the Belgian began a gradual fightback, claiming two consecutive games. Parry, demonstratin g immense fortitude, ultimately closed out the set 6-3 to secure her first-ever WTA singles title in just over two and a half hours.
