Muscat: OQ Group, in collaboration with OQ Trading, has signed an agreement with Takatuf Oman to provide 100 international scholarships for the "Oman Scholars" program over five years. This initiative includes 20 grants annually, enabling students to pursue education at several prestigious universities.
According to Oman News Agency, the program's sponsorship by OQ Group aims to support the development of national competencies equipped with the skills and knowledge required to contribute to a knowledge-based economy. It also extends OQ's long-standing partnership with Takatuf Oman in human capital development by offering educational and career pathways aligned with labor market demands and the rapid transformations in economic and development sectors. Eng. Ali Mohammed Al Lawati, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ, stated that investing in national competencies is a core pillar of OQ's long-term strategy. Through the "Oman Scholars" program, the company continues to provide educational and development opportunities that help prepare national cadres with the necessary skills and expertise to keep pace with future changes and support the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
The "Oman Scholars" program contributes to building national intellectual capital by equipping Omani students with advanced scientific skills and global academic experience. Students enroll in academic disciplines of national priority, based on Oman Vision 2040 objectives, and gain experience in international research and academic environments. This supports the knowledge economy and strengthens national scientific capabilities.
It is worth noting that since its launch, the program has supported 122 students through OQ and its subsidiaries. Of its graduates, 67 are currently employed within OQ Group, while ten others hold positions at institutions outside the Sultanate of Oman. This reflects the program's role in developing competitive national competencies capable of contributing across various sectors.
