Oman’s Inaugural Participation in London Design Biennale 2025 with ‘Memory Network’

London: The Sultanate of Oman is set to participate for the first time in the London Design Biennale 2025 on 5 June. The event will showcase an artwork titled ‘Memory Network,’ designed by Omani architect and designer Haitham Al Busaidi.

According to Oman News Agency, ‘Memory Network’ is under the artistic auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth. It aims to bridge the past and present by reimagining traditional Omani pottery through a contemporary lens. The artwork presents transparent formations inspired by Omani pottery within a network that mimics data centers, now integral to preserving memories and knowledge.

The work offers a visual meditation on how societies choose what to preserve across generations. Pottery-making in Oman was more than a craft; it represented core societal values such as survival, community bonds, and the relationship with the environment.

The artistic piece will feature an interactive experience, inviting visitors to contribute their own memories to this digital network. This creates interconnected repositories of human experiences, forming a living archive that prompts essential questions about what is considered precious today.
