Abu Dhabi:The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which was held in Abu Dhabi from September 26 to October 1, 2026. The congress focused on "Accelerating Action in Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law: Protecting People, the Planet and Achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in the Digital Age."

According to Oman News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Nasr bin Khamis Al Sawai, the Attorney General and Head of the Government Experts Team. During the congress, Al Sawai delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of developing innovative and evidence-based strategies for crime prevention. He highlighted the need to strengthen criminal justice systems to uphold the rule of law and protect human rights, while addressing the challenges posed by evolving criminal activities, including organized crimes and cybercrimes.

Al Sawai stressed the responsible use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence within the criminal justice framework. He also called for enhanced international cooperation and partnerships, along with the exchange of expertise, to tackle cross-border crimes effectively.

Oman's participation underscores its commitment to contributing to international efforts aimed at reinforcing the criminal justice system, promoting the rule of law, achieving security and stability, and fostering sustainable development. The Sultanate is dedicated to safeguarding rights and freedoms, particularly the right to life, human dignity, a secure life, and the inviolability of private life.
